The Charities Commission - Komihana Kaupapa Atawhai - is responsible for registering and monitoring charitable organisations in New Zealand, as well as providing support and education to the charitable sector on good governance and management.

Department of Internal Affairs
- Department of Internal Affairs Community Funding Advisors can help you with a wide variety of information and advice. Go to their website for information on COGS & lottery grants.
- The DIA also administers the Community Internship Programme (CIP). This programme allows a skilled, experienced person to temporarily leave their permanent job, for a period of up to 6 months, and work as an 'intern' for community organisation. The intern's salary is provided to the host community organisation by funding from the CIP.
Inland Revenue Department
This site contains provides access to information, forms and calculators for a wide range of areas such as PAYE, IRD, KIWISAVER and Charities Commission.
Philanthropy New Zealand
Philanthropy New Zealand is a membership association formed in 1990 as an initiative of the Roy McKenzie Foundation. The original nucleus of 20 members has grown to 111 organisations representing private trusts and foundations, and those grant-making trusts unique to New Zealand created through the sale of community banks and energy utilities.

New Zealand Federation of Voluntary Welfare Organisations The NZ Federation of Voluntary Welfare Organisations is an active network of social service organisations. It has been active over four decades and has a membership base of more than 130 organisations.
The Federation's mission is to inform, inspire and advocate for a thriving voluntary welfare sector in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Trust Waikato
Trust Waikato's purpose is to help organisations carry out charitable, cultural, philanthropic and recreational projects of benefit to people in the Greater Waikato.
Every year the Trust holds one major donation round, allocating funds to around 1000 community groups.
JR McKenzie Trust
The Trust makes grants to community organisations in New Zealand, mainly in the areas of social services, health services and community development. You can check out whether your organisation might be eligible for a grant, and download our application forms.
Webhealth has been specifically developed to provide another avenue of access for people to connect with Health and Social Services and relevant information.

The WEL Energy Trust

New Zealand Council of Social Services
