IT Community Advisory Servicecomputer_picture_1_1.JPG

Benefits

The overall long-term impact of an IT Community Advisory Service is building the capacity of community organisations to developing appropriate and effective IT systems, enabling the effective delivery of services. In the past, community organisations have had very little IT resource available to them. This service will provide advice and support for community organisations to choose the technology that best fits their purposes. This service uses the skills of an IT expert to work one-to-one alongside people in community organisations to enhance their capacity. This will mean increased IT opportunities for people in some of the most excluded groups within our communities.

The outcome will be:
  • Community organisations will grow in confidence in IT, increasing IT skill and learning.
  • Community organisations have access to excellent advice and resources specific to the needs and work of community based social services.
  • More community organisations will be able to use the internet and enhanced phone systems to connect with each other, and will move to broadband capability.
  • There will be more opportunities for collaboration and better access to both government and non government e-resources.
  • Enhanced IT capacity will increase the opportunities of community organisations in rural and isolated areas to participate in a whole range of community events and initiatives.
